ABSTRACT:

Fore and aft vibration is a phenomenon familiar to trucks. Primarily, it appears as a result of irregularities of engine operation, clearances and elasticity in transmission, road roughness, etc. In order to determine the effect on driver and passenger due to fore and aft vibration, investigations were performed on heavy-duty trucks (wheel formula 4x4 and 4x2). The following values were measured:

• Position of accelerator pedal,

• Gearbox input r.p.m.,

• Gearbox output torque,

• Vehicle chassis -fore and aft acceleration,

• Loaded seat -fore and aft vibration.

The measured values were subjected to statistical and frequency analyses (probability distribution functions, root mean square values, spectra, ordinary and partial coherence functions, etc.). It is obvious that influence of fore and aft vibration must be thoroughly investigated. Therefore, great efforts are being done in order to discover as many information about the influence of vibration on human body as possible. In this paper there are shown the results of the investigation of behaviour of human body, in seated position, under the influence of stochastic fore and aft vibration.
