ABSTRACT

Experimental research to determine characteristics of electropneumatic modulators of lorries, buses and trolleybuses is carried out. Methods of modulators testing and the controlling and measuring equipment used are described. Dynamic characteristics of modulators including the firstly defined modulators through-put capacity for different volumes of chambers (brake chambers) when letting the air in and out of chamber are determined. Experimental determination of modulators throughput capacity allows us to take most accurate ac-count of the degree of anti-lock brake systems influence when creating mathematical models of brake actua-tors of different complexity as well as when investigating vehicle motion dynamics, load and reliability of brake mechanisms.
