ABSTRACT

The paper discusses the problems connected with the active safety systems for the family of on- and off-road mobile machines in the following topics.

  • Active safety control strategy for heavy-duty vehicles
  • Implementation of neural networks for algorithms of active safety systems
  • Testing technique for active safety system.

The progress of active safety systems on the base of these mechatronic and intelligent technologies is discussed with reference to heavy-duty vehicles and off-road trucks.

In addition, the presented work gives a brief description of the procedure for virtual proving of active safety systems with pneumatic brake drive. Virtual testing is illustrated by the example of comparison of anti-lock braking systems with the traditional and neural control strategy.
