ABSTRACT

The evolution of alternative powertrains poses the specific tasks for various automotive elements. One of the essential problems is the compatibility of brake and safety systems with various types of engines and transmissions. The analysis of given question can be performed based on qualitative assessment of VPB environment ("Vehicle – Powertrain – Brake System"). An investigation of the potential for various combinations of VPB elements allows evolving the most promising approaches for brake systems:

  • Kinetic brake boosters without external energy source
  • Combined brake-by-wire systems
  • Regenerative brakes.

The results of research are the concrete structure variants for various types of the brake systems with reference to the vehicles, aided by the innovative powertrains.
