Abstract

Abstract:

The brake system belongs to the vehicle security systems and due to this fact a special attention has to be taken into account at the design and manufacturing, in order to guarantee a good working for the whole vehicle life. From this point of view in the present paper the authors tried to explain the apparition of the non-uniform radial wear by using a computer simulation with finite elements for the disk behaviour during the braking process. The purpose of this paper is to put in evidence the contact pressure distributions between the friction lining and the brake disk. In several works, one of the main assumptions to be considered is that of a uniform distribution of the pressure during the braking process, which finally could lead to a uniform wear of the brake disk. In reality, the traces leaved by the friction linings on the contact surface of the disk contradict the assumption of a uniform pressure distribution. The remarks made after results analysis will lead to new approaches for the vehicle brake system calculation.
