A Safety Evaluation Model for Lane Change Warning Assist System

Abstract

A safety evaluation model, which is used for lane change warning assist system, is proposed in this paper. This model utilizes the information of controlled car and neighbor cars to predict the degree of difficulty for driver to finish a lane change operation. Combined with driver's properties, an evaluation function of safety level is proposed. Some information can be provided to the driver in the lane change process based on this evaluation. So the driver can make decision easily while driving car to finish the lane change.
