Abstract
The new sequential manual gearbox, known from Formula 1 and M3, will be offered now as a modified application in 330i and 325i for BMW's customers. The target group was defined as the sportive orientated driver, who prefers on one side the new ma/machine interface and on the other side the advantages regarding driving fun and driving dynamics. The new sequential gearbox, based on the current 5-speed gearbox, represents a very compact solution and fulfills all quality requirements as a pre-filled and pre-checked system. There were nearly no changes necessary regarding the package of the gearbox in the car as well as the assembly and handling of the unit in the car production.
