Abstract

Large commercial vehicles like buses traveling a long distance with high speed suffer from significant fuel consumption due to large aerodynamic drag generated by serious wake. With the purpose of their drag reduction, the wind tunnel test is performed here by using a 1/16-bus model set on a moving ground. The drag is found to be well reduced by optimizing the under-floor flow with aid of adequate aero-device installation.
