Abstract

Flow-induced noise and vibration occur in many engineering applications and constitutes one of the most diverse areas, incorporating many other narrower disciplines: fluid mechanics, structural dynamics, vibration, acoustics and statistics. However, the state-of-the-art technologies do not provide satisfactory solutions to predict such phenomena. To address this need, LMS International is currently extending his world-leading vibro-acoustic software SYSNOISE and developing efficient tools to predict flow-induced noise in different sectors. The methodology is based on the Aero-Acoustic Analogy. In this paper, the theory is recalled. Next a coupling of the CFD with the Acoustics is performed to solve floe-induced noise problems for an idealized car. Finally, the numerical results are presented and compared with the measurements.
