Abstract

The assessment of conditions is which the vehicle will be driven is a fundamental consideration factor I the overall development process of a vehicle. The knowledge is especially important in targeting durability goals. Based on driving pattern obtained from customer surveys, quantification of vehicle behavior depending on various roads such as highway, regional expressway, city roads, and unpaved roads is established. Surface characteristics of the roads are compared using slope, degree of twist, and unsprung mass. Damages on the body and chassis are considered using displacement, vibration, and fatigue, while those on the powertrain are considered using gearshift pattern and torque. Damages on various bushes are assessed through measurement of temperature. The investigation process is described along with the correlation results.
