Abstract

EGR(Exhaust Gas Recirculation) gas system is widely used for emission reduction without examination of emission affected by EGR gas distribution layout. Optimization of EGR gas distribution layout may be useful for gaining another potential of emission reduction since possible emission increase due to bad distribution layout is removed. Evaluation of EGR gas distribution into each cylinder was done for 2.9L 4-valve DI TCI diesel engine. Best EGR gas distribution was gained when there is sufficient mixing length of air and EGR gas. Emission of EGR gas distribution layout of present base type is same level with the one of best EGR gas distribution layout. This results from that present EGR ratio target point is located at moderate slope of Nox and Soot to EGR ratio.
