Abstract

This paper describes a structural optimization of an existing truck cab for depressing its boom noise, which is a low frequencies noise and mainly caused by engine vibration. The structural optimization target is to reduce sound pressure level at the driver’s right ear area. The structural optimization measures are carried out based on structural analysis and structure -acoustic coupling analysis and harmonic analysis of engine vibration by finite element method.

This paper also presents the experimental and analytical research on the dynamic characteristics of car structure. The experimental and analytical results show satisfactory agreement with each other.
