Abstract

In this paper, A FEM analysis has been conducted on the drive axle housing in respects of structural statics, structural modal and forced vibration. The result of structural static analysis indicates that the axle house is safe and excellent in the view of the static strength. But the result of structural modal analysis shows that the former 9 natural frequencies are in the range of road bumpiness spectrum and the deformation of rear cover is severe . The forced vibration analysis of the system that is composed of leaf springs and rear axle housing is to calculate the response of road bumpiness excitation. The result indicates that harmonic excitation will cause resonance at 12Hz and 44Hz, and, large dynamic stress occurs in the middle of the axle housing where cracks and avulsions arise.
