Abstract

This paper explains the features and possibilities of the ultra-small Hypermini electric vehicle(EV) developed by Nissan Motor Company, and also discusses applications of the ultra small EV as urban city transportation.

The ultra-small EV reduces CO2 emissions dramatically by emitting only a quarter those of a conventional gasoline vehicle when operating and generating electricity. Its diminutive size allows it to be parked in cramped parking spaces on crowded streets and gives it a remarkably tight turning radius. In sum, this unique vehicle is both eco- and driver-friendly.

We are participating three case studies to demonstrate the use this car in different urban areas, and these three studies all involve car-sharing projects. The areas are: Yokohama City and Ebina City in the Kanagawa prefecture, and

Kyoto City. We also propose the idea of integrating an ultra-small electric vehicle and a house in the future.
