Optimizing Design of Magnetorheological Damper

Abstract

On the existing main problems of magnetorheological (MR) damper such as sedimentation of MR fluid, easy abrasion leakage of oil-seal and not perfect magnetic circuit structure, etc., this paper puts forward the optimizing measures of installing anti -sedimentation device, MR seal and electromagneti c piston with multi -stage magnetic circuit structure, etc. With the front damper of Passat B5 as the design object, the hydraulic pressure structure and electromagnetic field of MR damper are designed and calculated. Finally, tests of these optimizing measures are completed, results of these tests are satisfying.
