Study on The Control Strategy of Hybrid Electric Vehicle Powertrain System

Abstract

Different configurations of SHEV (Series Hybrid Electric Vehicle) were analyzed based on energy flow of powertrain. The principles of Series Thermostat Control Strategy (STCS) and Series Power Following Control Strategy (SPFCS) were discussed. The equivalent gasoline consumption and emission performance such as HC, CO, NOx of one series car were simulated and analyzed based on different control strategies. The energy economy and emission performance of all the exhaust gases of Thermostat Control Strategy are different from that of Power Following Control Strategy when ECE+EUDC and FTP urban and highway driving cycles are simulated. Generally, the emission performance of Power Following Control Strategy based on optimizing fuel economy and emission performance comprehensively is better than that of control strategy based on optimizing fuel economy only. And the economy performance of the former is the same or worse slightly than that of the latter.
