Abstract
Notwithstanding the fact that there have been many successful applications of domestic crash facilities, there still is a deficient usage of numerical simulation tools and sled simulation tests in the restraint system developments for inland passenger cars. This paper describes the development of an airbag restraint system for a C-class sedan of First Automobile Works (FAW) Group by a comprehensive use of crash test, occupant simulation and sled test technologies.
*PAM-CRASH/SAFETM software is used for crash/occupant simulation. A sled simulation system contributed greatly to the success of the restraint system development. The newly developed hydraulic PulseG-15 sled decelerator generated deceleration pulses with high precision of reproducibility and repeatability.
