Abstract
Li-ion battery has been developed since 1991 to an advanced rechargeable battery with high voltage, high specific energy, long cycle-life and no memory effect. With more than 10 years experience in practical application, the performance including safety of 2 Ah or less Li -ion cell have been accepted by the public. The research on large-scale
Li-ion battery aimed at the applications such as electric vehicle, spacecraft and energy storage began in 1995. Since 1998, TIPS began to develop large-scale Li-ion batteries for electric vehicle, and got initial achievement. The performance of the cell and batteries will be described in this paper.
