Abstract

Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU)-normally Solenoid Valve (SV) is the actuator of Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) in a vehicle, and directly affects the performances of Antilock Brake System.

The electromagnetic and fluid fields of the SVs are analyzed with Finite Element Method (FEM), and an SV model is developed based on state-space methods. With the simulating computation, studied is the relation between the time-domain response of the SV and factors such as structures and materials. The transient analysis of the axisymmetric FEM electromagnetic field model establishes. The result indicates that factors, such as non-operational air-gap and magnetic characteristics of the materials, have serious effects on electromagnetic force and inductance. How the flow rate and the valve stroke position affect the hydraulic force on the stroke, and how the diameter of the throttle decides the flow rate were gained.
