Abstract

This paper introduces the hardware and software designs of a host control system for exhaust pollutant measurement from light duty vehicles. It is a measure and control system based on GPIB or RS232 interface protocol, using an industrial computer as system controller. It controls devices and acquires data through standard industrial I/O boards. The software was developed under the environment of Labview for Windows based on Virtual Instrument. CVS bag analysis, continuous (modal) measurement of raw and diluted exhaust can be performed according to regulation and research demand. The concentration and mass of pollutants, fuel consumption, efficiency of catalyst, EGR, A/F, etc can be obtained. The software has plenty of data processing functions. The system has been used in some laboratories of China.
