Abstract

This project aims at finding the impacts of driving cycles on the emission performance of gasoline engine vehicles. First, nineteen already existed and five newly presented characteristic parameters were chosen to describe driving cycles, their physical meanings and applications were analyzed, and seven of them were chosen as representational characteristic parameters . Three typical driving cycles were compared using these parameters, and significant differences were found among them. Second, simulation software ADVISOR was used to calculate the exhaust emissions of the same vehicle under diverse driving cycles. Third, experimental study was carried out to compare diverse driving cycles. According to the calculation and test result, the emission factors of CO, CO2, THC and NOX under diverse driving cycles are significantly different. Characteristic parameters were used to analyze the impacts of driving cycles on emission performance of gasoline engine vehicles.
