Abstract

The Torsion Beam Type Rear Suspension is simple and cheap, but to improve the ride performance is generally not easy. Usually some ways to improve the ride performance is tuning bush stiffness , spring rate, damping coefficient. The effect of this traditional method is limited. In the simple road test there was a impact shock problem in rear suspension system. The reason is not clear but there is probably resonance. The suspension system could be excited. So the vibration analysis is performed and the natural vibration mode is obtained. By investigating the natural modes we could find some modes, which is related to the rear impact shock. The frequency analysis was performed to study the effect of each parameter, for example mass, spring ratio, etc. Then we determine the way to improve the impact ride performance in rear suspension system. To verify the new ideas the transient response analysis was performed. The rear suspension analysis model was constructed and some parameters related to the new system were investigated. In most analysis NASTRAN Vibration Analysis Program was used.
