Abstract

Prediction method of cooling air velocity considering the effect of cooling fan by using CFD is developed. Predicted velocity and velocity distribution in front of a radiator which depend on the vehicle speed or grille opening correspond with experimental result. And to reduce the model creating time, we adopted the method of combining the external flow grid and engine compartment model chosen from the database which consist of some simplified engine compartment models. As a result, this prediction method can be applied the early stage of vehicle development easily.
