Abstract
This paper concerns improvement for starting ability of the newest Hino K13C (L6 / 13liter) turbo charged and inter-cooled heavy duty vehicle diesel engine with a common-rail fuel injection equipment. The simulation model with driver's operation and low speed engine torque performance has been built. And the parameter studies for engine control have been carried out by making the engine speed down smaller at the clutch fully engaged. Here starting assist system for taking maximum starting ability from K13C is developed. The dump truck equipped with this newest system can achieve the same starting ability as the 20 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine.
