Abstract

The mechanism and key technology of dynamic finite element method in sheet metal forming is described. The main factors influencing analytical precision and calculation time are presented. The Belytschko-Tsay shell element on the base of co-rotational theory and Mindlin theory is studied and improved with a new local coordinate system. Meanwhile, the forming limit curve (FLC) is integrated into the programs, as a flag, to evaluate the forming performance of the analyzed material timely. The contact analysis is discussed and the contact point is also calculated in a new way.

The mould design period for auto-body panel can be e fficiently shortened. And the sheet metal forming analysis can be improved. With our code, a benchmark test case about a square cup is presented as an application example in the stamping process.
