Abstract
A study of fatigue life prediction for automobile body is done. Based on a full vehicle FE model, including detailed body model and simplified chassis model, and a typical road roughness spectrum collected from actual proving ground, the random vibration responses of the vehicle are simulated numerically. The fatigue lives of body components are estimated at a given speed based on the predicted dynamic stress responses at considered positions and their power spectrum densities. Most predicted points in danger are consistent to the experimental results on proving ground.
