Abstract

As a new type of torsional vibration damper, Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) Torsional Damper is used in automotive powertrain more and more widely. In this paper, a Dual Mass Flywheel-Circumferential Spring (DMF-CS) Torsional Damper is studied and designed. Based on the numerical simulation results of the natural torsional vibration characteristics of a vehicle powertrain, the fundamental procedure and some key points for the determination of performance parameters of the DMF-CS damper, including mass moment of inertia, torsional stiffness and damping, are investigated. And some problems relevant to design of the DMF-CS damper are discussed in details.
