Abstract
The effects of RWS(Remote Welding System) process parameters on weld quality were investigated by the use of a CO2 laser with a long focal length and a beam deflection optics. It was shown that laser power, incidence angle, shielding gas, and the geometric condition of workpiece were the most influential process parameters. As an industrial application of automotive body structure, the tailgate of the SUV was welded with RWS and its feasibility was tested.
