Abstract

In aluminum block engines the crush height of main bearing has effects on lubrication system. In this study the oil pressure and oil flow rate were measured at maximum and minimum crush height conditions. The oil pressure was measured at oil pump outlet, main gallery and head gallery according to engine speed and oil temperature. The pressure at maximum crush height condition is lower than pressure at minimum crush height condition. And the pressure in the main bearing groove was measured. The pressure in the main bearing groove was fluctuating because of oil supply to connecting rod bearing. The minimum value of pressure fluctuating at maximum crush height condition was lower than at minimum crush height condition.
