Abstract
This paper discusses the aim and significance of road safety evaluation based on virtual reality, and puts forward the general system scheme. Some key technologies such as the building of virtual scene based on Creator, the modeling of virtual road, the development of vehicle dynamics model, and the development of real-time simulation software based on Vega are discussed. Through the visual simulation on the road safety evaluation system platform based on virtual reality, and the vehicle speed inducement effect of the road can be obtained at the stage of road design. The simulation results based on virtual reality can be used to guide the road alignment design and improving design of traffic facility, and to provide foundation for road safety audit.
