Abstract

Wear is considered to be an important subject to decrease the breaking and cornering performance. And particles of worn tire are the main cause of inducing to respiratory diseases. For the above reasons, it is preceded much research to calculate quantitatively tire wear. However, it is depending wholly on an experiment until present. Tire wear test is very time consuming, expensive. Therefore, the numerical simulation approach is potentially better, but needs to describe tire geometry and characteristics in great detail as well as their interaction with the road surface. In this paper, the complicated pattern shape and internal construction of the tire are modeled exactly since both these factors are very important for the tire wear performance. We investigated factors affected about tire wear based on wear mechanism, and knew that tire wear is relative to frictional energy. Accordingly, the tire frictional energy is computed by utilizing the 3D dynamic rolling analysis of patterned tire. Finally, the amount of wear is determined by mean of connecting frictional energy with wear equation.
