Abstract

This paper discusses case study concerning collaboration between university and automotive industry in strengthening capability in design for automotive components. This collaboration combines the indigenous strength of the parties involved and is aimed to yield mutual benefit. Industry, in one hand expects to strengthen capability in design, and, on the other hand, university expects industrial experiences to enrich its capability in research and teaching. Steps in paving the way toward strong collaboration are discussed. Several works including reverse engineering for silent chain, piston and shock absorber are presented.
