Abstract

“Torsion beam suspension” is widely referred to compact cars because of a few component and good spatial performance. However, focusing on harshness, a few components and a small number of degree of freedom make it difficult to be consistent with handling. So in this paper, we study for harshness noise with “Torsion beam suspension” to analyze harshness noise phenomenon and to present a way to reduce harshness noise. However, knowledge and study of this noise are not enough to solve problems. Therefore it is necessary to study for this phenomenon and to establish a way to solve problems. We studied phase characteristic of input force using simplified structural simulation model and tire model. As a result of this study, suspension bush’s characteristic needed to be optimized and also direction of bush’s axis needed to be optimized.
