Abstract

The growing concern surrounding Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) rollover incidences and their consequences have prompted to investigate the sensitivity of critical vehicle parameters on rollover. The entire simulation is carried out using chassis control software- Carsim/VehSim. A standard model is considered and all critical vehicle parameters are varied within chosen specified limits. The simulation is done for fishhook steering maneuver for assessing the influence of each parameter on vehicle sensitivity. The entire simulation results are correlated to arrive at optimized parameters for less rollover prone and safer SUV chassis design.
