Abstract

y-Al2O3 honeycomb ceramic coatings were prepared by Sol-Gel methods in the paper, after calcined at 550 ℃ and 1 050 ℃ for 24 h separately, the coatings was characterized by XRD and BET specific surface-area testing. It was shown that the y-Al2O3 coatings stabilized by BaO could afford much more serious thermal aging than the non-stabilized one and could meet the thermal stability requirements of Close Coupled Catalysts. Comparative testing results were given, and also three kinds of stabilization mechanism of BaO to y-Al2O3 coatings were advanced in the paper: “Island thermal isolating”,” to form new high-temp resistant species with y-Al2O3” and” large cation effect”.
