Abstract

Oil pump down-sizing is one of the effective methods to reduce engine friction and to improve engine efficiency. As a method to control and reduce the amount of lubricating engine oil, we modified the shape of the oil groove of crankshaft main bearing, called eccentric oil groove, by gradually decreasing the depth of oil groove towards the parting line. We found the well balance specification by measuring oil leakage distribution in engine running condition and checking capability of eliminating contamination analytically.
