Abstract

This paper illustrates the implementation of the finite element method for analyzing the three-axis force sensor for metal cutting applications. This force sensor is a strain gage type. The objective of the analysis is to evaluate the structure deformation, deflection, and natural frequencies as well as coupling between each axis which will be used as the criteria for optimizing the structure of the sensor.
