Abstract
This paper presents two mathematical models for predicting the dynamic behaviour of water-filled plastic barriers that redirect vehicles in compliance with AS/NZS 3845:1999. One of the models is empirically based whereas the other is a simplified model based on conservation of momentum. The models predict working width and simple barrier movement and have been validated against experimental results and MADYMO simulations.
