Abstract
The road toll has reduced significantly since the 1960s as a result of government initiatives and vehicle design improvements. Over the past 5 years, however, the road toll has plateaued, and a new approach is needed if the desired reductions in fatalities and injuries resulting from road crashes are to be achieved. This paper presents a proposal for a collaborative approach to road safety, involving all of the stakeholders in the transportation system.
