Abstract

The development of an automotive powertrain is always a complex process of system integration to achieve vehicle performance requirements. Every time a team of co-operated engineers set out to establish selected performance targets. The team’s objective is to design and integrate all of powertrain components to provide maximum vehicle performance. An analysis of some cases of powertrain development (re-equipment or dieselisation) for all-terrain trucks and vehicles in our practice with Military Institute of Mechanisation Technics, Department of Vehicle Administration and VEAM Corporation shows that our team had to use an intergrated engineering approach of computing techniques, laboratory data and vehicle testing enable us to achieve rigourous vehicle performance within concrete program demands. In each case, multiple variation of engines, transmission, cooling systems, component locations and innovations were very attentively analyzed and then developed to meet project objective. For our forming up automotive industry now, it is still a very important, needing more special study, involvement and engagement.
