Abstract
An advanced plating system has been developed to improve the productivity and to reduce the environmental load. A new electrochemica1 etching process, which employs the needle-like eutectic silicon in Al-Si alloys as an anchor of the plating layer, reduced the pretreatment process from 5 to 1 steps. Consequently the waste liquid was reduced to less than 1/5. Further improvement was obtained by a new recycle system with the electrochemica1etching process. A new high-speed nickel phosphorous silicon carbide composite electroplating with fast rate of solution flow achieved 5 times as fast as the conventiona1 process. Dynamometer endurance test was carried out witl1 in-line 4, 2.2 liters engines. The applicability of the combination with the machining line was a1so confirmed by the pilot line.
