Abstract

To be a winner in today’s automobile market, OEMs strive to deliver right product at right time with possibly lowest price and superior quality. As a result, engineers are constantly improving process efficiency by implementing system engineering methodology, adopting lean engineering processes and conducting simulation-based product development to achieve ambitious targets. Among these efforts, simulation-based product development is an important key to improving the traditional product design process by reducing or eliminating expensive physical tests. Ever increasing competition also drives automobile suppliers to achieve OEMs’ ambitious goals of cost reduction, superior warrantee and on-time delivery.

Today product design engineers greatly rely on more and more computer aided engineering (CAE) to imp rove their product development process.

To face today’s challenge, Visteon Driveline Systems Engineering has continuously developed and expanded their CAE capabilities in all phases and disciplines of product development. These CAE capabilities include system NVH, system dynamics and co-simulation, durability and optimization. Furthermore, with development of CAE tools, it increases the efficiency and quality of CAE, which, in turn, improve product development process. Many application examples will illustrate how CAE drives the product development process.
