Abstract

Several tests are performed to evaluate road booming noise. Base line test gives information of road noise characteristics. Coupling effect between structure and acoustic obtains from mode shapes and natural frequencies by modal test. Stiffness of joint area between chassis system and car-body can be determined by input point inertance test. Noise sensitivity of body at mounting area to chassis system can be obtained by noise transfer function test with input point inertance test. Operational deflection shape makes us analyze mode shapes of chassis system under the forced vibration and find noise source due to resonance to the chassis system. Finally, transfer function analysis is used for noise path analysis through chassis system. However all of tests above mentioned must be performed to evaluate road booming noise. The objects and procedures of test are shown in this paper. Also, guideline for efficient road noise evaluation test can be found.
