Abstract
This paper contains the short summarisation of the Hungarian road accident data related to buses of the last 25 years, and furthermore it reflects the passive and active safety developments of the buses. While presenting the classification of the bus accidents with special regard to those with serious and fatal injuries, parallel with the changing of the traffic rules, the main features of the safety characteristics, the improved technical solutions of the bus safety are discussed. Hungary has played outstanding role in bus safety developments which is presented in a comparative table.
