Abstract
The paper presents the different type of bus roof strength tests carried out at AUTÓKUT Budapest. It describes the currently used combined AUTÓKUT method. This method consists of two parts: dividing the bus into cross-segments the quasi-static laboratory bending tests of these segments have to be carried out first. The measured results shall be fitted to an iteration-program and the maximally deformed forms of side columns (superstructure) can be calculated.
There is possibility to substitute these quasi-static laboratory tests with completely FEM calculations in strict conditions.
The pendulum tests due to AUTÓKUT experiences were considered as inappropriate for ECE 66 qualifying tests.
This paper draws attention to some contradictions of exclusive computer calculations.
