Abstract
Coach rollover accidents occur with relative low frequency compared with the total number of coach accidents. Spanish data in period from 1995 to 1999, covering 73 rollover accidents, show a rollover frequency of 3,8% in roads and highways and 0,4% in city traffic.
However, the risk of fatalities in rollover is about five times higher than in any other coach accident types. For example, in frontal impact accidents (the most severe type of car accidents), the risk of fatalities for coach passengers is 2,0% against a 9,6% in the case of coach rollover.
