Abstract

For reducing the number of human injuries in bus accidents two attributes are needed: the acceptably rigid superstructure which guarantees the residual space and secondly to prevent the dangerous inner impact of human body with fittings or frame-structure. The adequate background gives possibilities for checking of bus passive safety solutions by computer and only the best utilisable resolutions are applied in the standardised production. This paper shows couple crashworthiness test arrangements of an 15 tonnes’ bus as comparative tilting tests of complete bus structure by ECE 66, external frontal impacts to rigid wall with 10-20-30-40 km/h speed, side wall collision with 1800 kg IIHS barrier and inner head impacts.
