Abstract

Service Load Simulation in the automotive industry aims at reproducing some measured service loads on an hydraulic test rig. This is used for comfort and/or durability evaluations of new vehicle prototypes. In the Brite/Euram project SCOOP the main focus has been on vibration comfort and experiments on a 4 poster test rig have been done to investigate the vibration comfort in a controlled laboratory environment.

This paper discusses the currently applied service load simulation strategies and shows the improvement realized by augmenting the industrial available off-line controller with an H1 real-time feedback controller. The H1 con-troller is designed based on a mixed sensitivity approach. The results are illustrated by experimental results on one axis of a 4 poster test rig and show a reduction in the number of needed iterations with a factor of 2. Future work will concentrate on the extension towards the multiple axis case.
