Abstract

It is described how the apparent mass parameters of a person sitting on the seat can be predicted from anthropometric characteristics. Two modeling approaches were considered:multi-linear models and artificial neural networks (ANN).

With the selected anthropometric inputs, quite good prediction quality was achieved for frequencies of apparent mass modes. Therefore, developed models could be used for jury selection application.

However, for the other apparent mass parameters, linear and ANN modeling showed limited prediction performances. This lead to conclude that the information content of the used inputs was not sufficient to fit correctly prediction models.Further work would be needed to find other relevant inputs.
