Abstract

The constantly increasing demand for improved ride comfort in both niche and large volume production vehicles requires ever developing engineering test methods and analysis. With reduced development lead times, predictive methods become a key factor in determining whether a vehicle will be ‘best in class’ and subsequently survive in a highly competitive market. Experience has shown that good ride comfort can be achieved by successful management of low frequency vibration. This paper outlines methods to support NVH testing using advanced analysis techniques to predict and enhance ride comfort using Finite Element and optimisation tools. The use for both concept definition and development support is covered.
